About the Journal

Focus and Scope

The focus of the Proceedings of Manitoba's Undergraduate Science and Engineering Research journal is three fold. The circulation of a peer-reviewed undergraduate journal will provide a chance for students to receive recognition for their research in a wide range of scientific disciplines. The undertaking of writing a journal manuscript will further enhance the understanding of the significance of their respective projects in a broader context. This, in turn, will foster a tremendous growth in their intellectual development outside of the classroom setting, and serves as preparation for a career in research.

Peer Review Process

The peer-reviewers are volunteer undergraduate students recruited from the Faculty of Human Ecology, Engineering, Geography, Agriculture & Food Science, and Science. Criteria for selection include experience in education and research in any of the above designated fields.

Upon receiving a manuscript, the editor or manager of the journal will designate 2 students from the appropriate discipline to act as peer-reviewers. The peer review process will employ the double blind system, in which neither the reviewer nor the author will know each other's identity. The reviewer should aim to make a decision within 3 weeks after assignment, and if appropriate, send a detailed list of necessary revisions to the author(s) before publishing.
