Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • APA format
  • The text is double-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • Author has attained aggreement from the Principle Investigator (Advisor/Study Leader) and all other parties involved in the research for publication in PMUSER. Please submit the Copyright Agreement Form.
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed. This includes removing the author list in the submitted document.
  • The submitting author has included all co-author's names, emails, and affiliations during the online submission process.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.

Author Guidelines

Rapid Communications 

Rapid communications papers follow the same guidelines as research articles but are a maximum of 4400 words and have a maximum of 2 figures/tables.

Research Article Submission Guidelines

Format:

  • Times New Roman, Font Size 12, Double-Spaced.
  • Title must be bolded.
  • Each author listed must have a superscript letter(s) indicating their affiliations.
  • APA style referencing (http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/01/)
  • List up to 5 keywords related to your research after abstract.
  • Maximum 8000 words, including references, figures, and tables (count figures and tables as 250 words each)
  • In addition to in-text figures (with captions) in the main document, each figure should be submitted as an individual image file
  • Tables are to be included in the main document and should be constructed using Microsoft Word (or equivalent)
  • Include an additional file of literature cited in a BibTeX file format

All research journal manuscripts must include the following:

Title Page

A page with the title of the manuscript clearly indicating the subject being studied and/or the general results obtained. All authors will be listed in order of their contribution to the project with the first author having done the majority of the laboratory work, intellectual planning, as well as writing. For this journal, an undergraduate student must be the first author. The names of each author will be accompanied by a number legend which indicates their academic affiliations.

Abstract

The abstract should not exceed 250 words, and must clearly state in the beginning the rationale for the study, and conclude by summarizing the experimental data.

Keywords

Up to 5 keywords relevant to the research for indexing and searching functions.

Introduction

The introduction must cover the background, provide the rationale, and discuss the importance of this study. The specific objectives of the research must be clearly stated.

Materials and Methods

The author must include information about the company that supplies the materials used in the study. For example, ABI sequencer (Carlsbad, California, USA).

Methods should follow in logical order from the first experiment/analysis performed to the last experiment/analysis completed. It should be detailed enough for another research group to repeat the experiments.

Results

This section should include the necessary tables, graphs, and illustrations also in the appropriate chronological order. All figures must be numbered and accompanied by text explanation.

Discussion and Conclusion

This section should include interpretation of the data, and indicate its significance to the relevant field. Conclusion should also contain any future directions to expand upon this research.

Acknowledgement

Any technicians or students involved in the technical aspects of the research whom are not listed as co-authors should be acknowledged. All funding agencies that supported this research must be mentioned.

Referencing

In text and full referencing should follow the APA (American Psychological Association) style.

Review Article Submission Guidelines

  • Body - comparing different models/perspectives (how the results shape the current understanding of the topic)
  • Conclusions and outlook on the promise of each model/perspectives (future directions or questions that still remain in the area)
  • Acknowledgments & Literature Cited
